Terms of service
Last updated 17 August 2026
What you get, what it costs, and what we do not promise. Written to be read once, in full, without a lawyer.
Who we are
OwnYourTool.com is operated by Martin Estanislao Escalante Leiva, an individual based in Argentina. You can reach a person at support@ownyourtool.com — that address is read by the person who built this, and it is the fastest way to resolve anything on this page.
Payments are taken by Dodo Payments as merchant of record — they are the seller in the transaction, and their details appear at checkout and on your receipt.
What the service does
You paste or upload a Markdown document. We convert it to a PDF and give you the file. That is the whole service. There is no account to create, nothing to install, and nothing is kept afterwards — see the privacy policy.
Free and paid
The free version does everything the paid version does, except that it stamps a watermark across each page. Paying $7 once removes the watermark permanently and raises the limits. There is no subscription, no renewal, and nothing to cancel.
- Free
- Up to 500 KB of Markdown per document, around 30 pages, 5 documents an hour. Watermarked.
- Paid — $7 once
- Up to 2,048 KB of Markdown per document, around 200 pages, 30 documents an hour. No watermark.
These limits exist to keep the service fast and affordable for everyone, not to upsell you. A normal document will never meet one. If yours does and you have a real use for more, write to us — we would rather hear about it than lose you to a limit.
We may change the limits. If a change would reduce what a paying customer already has, we will email you before it takes effect.
How your access works — and its one weakness
There is no account and no password. Paying attaches access to the email address you use at checkout, and the browser you paid in remembers it. A new device, a different browser, or a cleared cache will show the watermark again.
When that happens, ask for an access link on the tool page and we email you one. It works for seven days and can be opened more than once, on as many devices as you like.
The weakness you should know about: whatever address you type at checkout is the address that owns your purchase. If you mistype it, or use an address you cannot read mail at, you will not be able to restore access on your own. Write to us and we will sort it out, but we will need to be able to verify the payment.
Who you are buying from
Payments are handled by Dodo Payments, which acts as
merchant of record. That means your purchase contract for the transaction is with
them: they take the payment, issue the receipt, and handle sales tax and VAT wherever you are.
Their name, not ours, may be what appears on your statement alongside
OWNYOURTOOL.
We never see or store your card details. Refunds are described in the refund policy.
Your documents are yours
You keep every right in what you convert. We claim no licence over it, we do not read it, and we do not use it to train anything. We delete it — the file you download and the Markdown you pasted — within an hour.
What you agree not to do
- Convert content you have no right to convert.
- Convert content that is unlawful where you are, or where we operate.
- Use automated means to exceed the limits, or to make the service unavailable to others.
- Attempt to break, probe or overload the service. If you are a security researcher, write to us instead — we will answer.
If you do these things we may block access. Where a paid customer is blocked for a reason other than abuse, we refund them.
What we do not promise
The service is provided as it is. We work hard to make the PDF faithful to your Markdown, but we do not guarantee that every document renders exactly as you expect, that the service is available without interruption, or that it is fit for a particular purpose of yours.
Two specific limitations, stated plainly because they have happened:
- Our fonts do not cover every writing system. Characters we cannot draw appear as empty boxes. The tool tells you when it detects this rather than letting you find out later.
- The preview on desktop shows approximate page boundaries. Exact page breaks are only knowable by rendering, and the preview says so.
Check your PDF before relying on it. For anything consequential — a contract, a submission with a deadline — read the output first.
Liability
To the extent the law allows, our total liability to you for anything arising out of the service is limited to what you have paid us in the twelve months before the claim — which for most people is $7 or nothing.
Nothing in these terms removes rights you have as a consumer that cannot be removed by agreement. If your local consumer law gives you more than this document does, that law wins.
Ending it
You can stop using the service at any time; there is nothing to cancel. Paid access does not expire, but it is access to this service — if we ever shut down, we will say so with as much notice as we can and refund recent purchases.
Changes to these terms
If we change them materially, we will update the date at the top and, for anyone who has paid, email you. Continuing to use the service after a change means you accept it.
Law and disputes
These terms are governed by the law of Argentina, and disputes go to its courts — except where your local consumer law entitles you to bring a claim where you live, in which case it does.
Before any of that: write to us. A reply from a person is usually faster than anything else available to either of us.
